HISTORY
OF PLUMBLINE MINISTRIES
Over the past ten years of existence,
Plumbline has been blessed with many gifted and dedicated people who
have, and continue to, contribute to the success of this ministry.
At present, we have five counselors
who devote many long hours to providing quality care at no charge to
the counselee. Their income is derived solely from their own efforts
to develop a support base from among friends, acquaintances, and past
counselees. This is both challenging and difficult at times. However,
the benefit to the counselee has proven worth the effort time and time
again. Our goal is to continue training staff through our Soul Care
program which currently offers development with the gracious co-operation
of our interns. But the development of "soul Care" is intended
to go well beyond equipping counselors. Instead, its purpose is to help
remove the grip of fear people so often feel in relationships. We do
this by entering into purposeful relationships with other in ways that
encourage their own growth and increase their ability to minister to
others in the midst of difficult/challenging life circumstances.
The development of our teaching
ministry began many years ago as counselors and volunteer began holding
classes to present Boundaries by Dr.'s Cloud and Townsend. This ministry
is growing and evolving as we continue this and other classes as well
as write and develop our own curriculum/books. At present, we have one
published book, "Stickman Theology." Other works are in progress
such as Stickman's Battles (sequel to Stickman Theology) and Superwoman
Myth, a work that has been presented in classroom setting and now is
being reworked into three separate volumes (superwoman, superwife, and
supermom.) These will be presented as part of Neon Lights Ministry for
women which is in the formation stages. These are only a part of our
long term goal to become a national teaching ministry.
"Our ultimate vision
of becoming a city wide counseling ministry with 12-18 full time counselors."
