At present, we have six counselors and four interns and our office manager who devote many long hours to providing quality care at no charge to the counselee. Each staff member derives their salary solely from their own efforts to develop a support base from among friends, acquaintances, and past counselees. This is both challenging and difficult at times. However, the benefit to the counselee has proven worth the effort time and time again.
Through our Soul Care training program, many lay-people gain the foundational principles of Pastoral Counselors. Soul Care is intended to go well beyond equipping counselors. Instead, its purpose is to help remove the grip of fear people so often feel in relationships. We do this by entering into purposeful relationships with other in ways that encourage their own growth and increase their ability to minister to others in the midst of difficult/challenging life circumstances. Participants in this 2 year program may apply of internship with Plumbline Ministries after completing their second of six semesters. These interns will become our future counselors and we will be able to partner with other area churches that will refer their members to us for counseling. The development of our teaching ministry began many years ago as counselors and volunteer began holding classes to present Boundaries by Dr.'s Cloud and Townsend. This ministry is growing and evolving as we continue this and other classes as well as write and develop our own curriculum/books. At present, we have two published books, "Stickman Theology" and “Stickman's Battles” (sequel to Stickman Theology). We have two other books that are currently in the editing process and the goal is to have these published within a year. Our ultimate vision is to become a city wide counseling ministry with 12 -18 full-time counselors.
If you are one to whom others seem drawn to share their hurts and needs, you may be a candidate for our Soul Care training and maybe even a future with Plumbline Ministries. To learn more about our services and classes, call 477-9068 or visit us on FaceBook; Stickman.
